Talismans from The Land Dreams in Ceremonies

$0.00

Please see Projects for greater detail about the talismans. These work are available for adoption.

Sacred talismans such as Motanky, Pysanky, and Rushnyky are traditionally “given” rather than sold. It is thought that the act of gifting increases their “powers” as a talisman and selling them “devalues” these powers. Likewise, when performing rites, ceremony, sacred healing, and prayer work, these are not done for a fee… Visiting a Mol’farka, Baba, Babka, Sheptukha, Znakharka, Vorozhka, and any other number of wyse/ cunning/ magical women came with the understanding that one would leave a donation in exchange for their services and time.

Most folks these days do not carry that cultural understanding and practice. For that reason, I have chosen to suggest my ceremonial work & creations are available for adoption by donation. This approach requires, on my part, trust that the time, resources, and accumulated skill and knowledge will be received with care and understanding, and reciprocated in a way that will allow me to continue (and thrive) in this work. Ceremonial crafting is not about “picking and choosing” what is comfortable or easy. It is a genuine adherence to and integrity within a lifestyle that requires commitment to the practice, skills, spirits, and land.

To adopt a sacred talisman comes with responsibility to care for the talisman with respect, and if ever there comes a time to release the talisman, it is done ceremonially (proper instructions are given when the talisman is purchased/ shipped).

A booklet accompanies the talisman:

  • the prayers and intentions the talisman carries;

  • the land the talisman is connected to and stories related to its making;

  • what the talisman will bring to your home or place it resides;

  • instructions for assembling and hanging the talisman;

  • care instructions;

  • release instructions.

Please email me directly with the following information:

  • the talisman you are interested in adopting;

  • what interests you in stewarding the talisman;

  • any questions you have;

  • what donation you would like to offer in exchange.

Please be aware that, due to the size of the talismans, I will ask you to cover the cost of shipping.

My gratitude for your sincere and serious consideration of this responsibility…

  • Whether on ceded or unceded land, to live respectfully within land means to recognize the interconnected nature of land and all who inhabit it. And it means to recognize the interconnected nature of time – that the memory of “what was” is alive here and now. Your blood and bones tell the stories of countless generations of beings, their evolutionary path, and the wisdom, wounds and scars they carried. It is alive in you. All that the land has experienced is alive and expressed in it – through the plants, the stones, the animals and insects, and through you. There are direct treaties or agreements and laws of conduct that are written between peoples on shared land. And there are treaties or contracts we share (in heart) with the ancestors, spirits, and with the land itself… This is my acknowledgement of these connections, contracts, and agreements.
